My mouth tastes like cigarettes. And I have a headache.

Oh, livejournal. I suppose I'll talk to you for a while, since there's no one else around. It's difficult to write a journal entry for me; I communicate much better in short three-line quips separated by spaces. But here we go.

I'm going to tell you a story, livejournal. I'm going to tell you a story about a kid who's more amiable when he's drunk. A kid with dreams shattered by realities and vice versa. Afraid to die but not formally opposed thereto.

This story begins in a forest. It's halloween and the trees are waving in the wind, back and forth. She says they aren't waving, but who knows what she's been smoking. Our hero, jack, takes a step. In the right direction. He stumbles over and drops his bottle of cheap wine.

"When you're out of wine, you're out of time," she says.
"Shut up."

A car drives up and jack's blinded by headlights. Shit, he thinks to himself. Police. She chuckles and puts out her cigarette. She waves. The horn honks obnoxiously, and the engine shuts off. Out comes a short stocky black kid with bloodshot eyes.

"What are you looking for?" he asks.
"What do you have?"

She sifts through her purse. She pushes aside love, playing cards, the stars and the night. She pulls out a twenty.

"What are you doing, darling?" Jack asks, brushing himself off.
"Whatever I fucking want."
"You make me sick sometimes."

The kid takes her money and leads them to the car. Climb in, he says. They pull out of that desolate grove and pull onto the parkway. No, not the fucking fairfax county parkway, asshole. Just the parkway. Maybe it's the jersey turnpike. They drive and lights pass quickly, over and over again, without really saying anything as they go. Jack sits in the back rubbing his temples, wishing he had a pack. The car rocks him gently, and it occurs to him how easily he might fall in love with anything that rocked him so gently. Then it occurs to him how easily he might fall in love with anything with any such slight tint of romanticism. Any foul, misshapen thing that could at the very least pretend to be from that world of fantasy that we believe in just to believe in something without any real committment.

His thoughts are interrupted by an obnoxious outpour of noise. Directionless anger flows from the speakers at decibel levels approaching 90, and jack rubs his temples again.

"What the fuck is this?" she asks, so eloquently phrasing his thoughts. It was one of the things he loved to hear her do.
"This, my friends, is death metal. Real death metal. Real death. Real metal."

"You're a faggot," jack says, so eloquently phrasing his thoughts. It was one of the things he did best.

The car ride was painful. She had taken the bottle of wine without his noticing and finished it herself. He hated when she did that. Real death metal continued to bombard his psyche and it occured to him that all he ever wanted to hear was a single violin.

The brakes crunch gravel and they pluck the inertia from jack's rather reluctant frame of reference. Jack's eyes pop open and he realizes that he had fallen asleep. Or he'd passed out. He remembered the time when he thought they were too different things. He remembered being disappointed when he learned that passing out was really just what drunk people get to call falling asleep. One of the many perks.

Car doors slam and cue his exit. He stands up and notes an unpleasant feeling in his stomach. He catches her eye to check the light. She's glazed over a little, he notices. He looks over at the night sky and doesn't see a single star. Maybe that's what's bothering her. Or maybe it's just the drugs. He then notices that they've come to a cliff. The white cliffs of dover, for argument's sake.

"Here's your shit." the black kid says. jack realizes he really doesn't like it when that kid speaks.

She nods. She walks to the edge. She considers shedding a tear, but she doesn't really feel like it. She glances back at him.

I dare you to stop me.

And off she goes.

Jack takes a step back. Thoughts are making their way through the thick folds of his wine-drunk brain. She's dead, apparently. Jack watches the black kid climb back into his dirty white pontiac out of the corner of his eye. He doesn't really want to talk to the roar of the engine as the kid reverses down the narrow street out of sight.

"I did love you, you know," jack said, almost indignantly. as if he had something to prove.

She heard him. She didn't believe him for a second, he knew. And why should she?

Jack sat on the edge of the cliff and cried until the sun rose.

Then he dried his tears and headed off to CVS to steal another bottle of wine.

This is the most fascinating moimoi ever to circulate the journals of live. Every time someone does it, it's so interesting to read! Therefore, I believe I shall do one as well

1) Yooou are just the sweetest thing on the whole planet and I'd be so lonely if you packed up and left. We've been through so much together and I hope we can go through the rest of our lives the same way =) I love you so much! =*
2) You, sir, are by far the most genius person to be of woman born. You have the best taste in film, the (second) best taste in women, you're far more comical than most persons, and you need to be awarded sovereignty of a small island nation. AND we need to finish our film!
3) You're the craziest, most dysfunctional bodhisattva I'll ever meet in this incarnation. I think I've learned more about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness from you than from any other person. I WILL teach you how to ride a bike someday, I promise. I don't know why you're so scared to talk to me at lunch, though!
4) You are fun to be around when NOT in theatre, but in said rather dismal class, I don't think I enjoy anyone's presence. Quite a shame, really; we need to have art together again because that was superb. I remember you back before the valentines day dance when you hung out with the goth girls in the bathroom; you've changed quite a bit since then =) Too bad we don't really have time to hang out anymore, but you know how it is.
5) You and I probably have the oddest relationship; but that only makes it more amazing how close I feel we are. We've been in touch for like three years now, and gone through so many of our troubles together. We're living proof 500 miles can't keep two friends apart =)
6) YOU, although I sometimes forget to include you in memes, are my racist, filipinese friend whose backpack has actually been inside mine (is that a base? it should be) and I love you even if maya doesn't (tee hee) and you need to visit from Latin more often. And THANKS for leaving me all alone in PE!
7) YOU'RE A MOOCh! Ahah, I actually think you're pretty cool but I WISH YOU WOULD STOP EATING MY FOOD
=P
8) You're obnoxious during movies! "Throw her! C'mon, just toss her, just a little..."

I can't think of five more people about whom I ought to write a blurb. What a loser I am.

Ah, l'journal d'live. Haven't seen you in a while.

Well, as many of you have noticed, South Lakes students are not allowed to eat outdoors anymore. I've written a letter to Mrs. Rodriguez about this rule asking her to repeal it. This is a preliminary step and I don't seriously expect her to undo this greivance, but it never hurts to check. After this, we can pass around petitions, write the superintendent, and protest and all that good stuff.

Dear Mrs. Rodriguez,

I am a student here at South Lakes, and I am concerned about the administration’s policy regarding the practice of eating outdoors during the lunch periods that was instituted a few months ago. I very much enjoyed the privilege to eat outside; it was unbelievably relaxing to breathe fresh air after sitting at a desk for four hours. Much to my dismay, however, an announcement came on the other month stating that the students would no longer be allowed to have lunch outdoors. Since that day, I have been eating inside in the loud, stuffy green cafeteria, which is almost as exhausting as being in class. I realize that this might sound trivial to a school principal, but from the point of view of a student, it was a much-needed refresher that helped me to recharge for the sixth or seventh period. I sincerely ask you, <strike>as a personal favor</strike>, to consider repealing this new rule and allowing students to have lunch outside again. If this is not possible, I would also ask that you please reply with the information concerning this decision, particularly whether or not the rule will be in effect for the remainder of the school year, so that I do not misconceive the intentions of the administration. If you should choose to write me, my address is 10978 Granby Ct., Reston, VA; if you would prefer electronic communication, my email is RileyTKeenan@comcast.net.

Thank you sincerely,

Riley Keenan

Does anyone have any thing to add to this? I'm not supposed to be representing the student body at this point; it's supposed to be from me to her, but does everyone agree with this? Do I sound too pompous or too sappy? You know, that stuff. I'll revise it with whatever you all say and give it to her Monday. We can take it from there, and hopefully be able to eat outside before June!

Edito: Okay, the personal favor bit is gone.

"...That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is in the Right of the People to alter or abolish it..."

Gods bless America!

Ahaha...

"In 1934 the political crisis reached a head. Fascist groups rioted in Paris, killing several people. Fearing a Fascist takeover, the Communists appealed to leaders of the Socialist party for 'a broad Popular Front to combat fascism and for work, liberty, and peace.' The new coalition won enough votes in a 1936 election to form a government. Leon Blum, the socialist leader, became prime minister. The Popular Front was in power for about a year, but in that short time it passed many new laws that benefited workers and farmers." (World History: the Human Experience, p.780)

Only in France to the Communists and Socialists ban together to protect the nation from fascism.

Of course then, only in France does the fascist party call itself the Fascist party. I mean, really, who votes for a fascist party? That's no way to gain popluar support.

It was a pretty good movie, actually. Really long. And theeen Sara couldn't come so I hung out with Laura and heather and that guy, along with Miles and Will later. Then Ian came, and Laura drove off to have sex with him. So I ambled around, until I came upon the almighty Sean who was searching for Jimmy. I just talked to him until the end of the night.
